Update: Orioles to interview former Yankees manager Showalter

Former Yankees manager Buck Showalter will interview for the Orioles managerial position on Wednesday, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Showalter is an analyst for ESPN and has a career 882-833 record as a manager with the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Rangers.

The Orioles have interviewed former Mets manager Bobby Valentine and former Indians manager Eric Wedge. Valentine met with Orioles owner Peter Angelos during his interview, while Wedge will come in for a second meeting with the team.

Former Mets and Orioles manager Davey Johnson also reportedly is a candidate.

The Orioles fired manager Dave Trembley on June 4, and Juan Samuel has served as interim manager since.

Baltimore’s president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail told the paper he doubts anyone will be hired before the All-Star break.
