NY hospital health

The HealthGrades study does not include specialty hospitals (“NY on Critical List in US Hospital Survey,” Jan. 27).

New York City is home to some of the world’s best academic specialty hospitals, which makes it an international health-care destination. As an academic specialty hospital focused on orthopedics and rheumatology, we constantly monitor our outcomes, which we measure through many quality indicators including mortality, rates of infection and complications, patients’ improved quality of life and patient satisfaction.

Our results speak for themselves, and, as a consequence, our hospital has developed an extraordinary reputation for its excellent outcomes. When outcomes are presented to the public in the right way, patients can make informed decisions about where to receive their health care.
