Jets’ Cromartie blasts Seattle QB on Twitter

Let’s hope Antonio Cromartie and Matt Hasselbeck don’t bump into each other on the unemployment line.

The Jets cornerback and impending free agent, threatened the Seahawks quarterback, who is also headed for free agency, yesterday on Twitter.

Cromartie has drawn criticism from several former players after slamming the NFL’s collective bargaining talks Monday. Hasselbeck joined that group yesterday when according to Pro Football Talk, he tweeted: “Somebody ask Cromartie if he knows what CBA stands for.”

Hasselbeck apparently thought better of it and deleted the tweet, but once Cromartie heard about it he posted a message for Hasselbeck.

“Hey Matt if u have something to then say it be a man about it. Don’t erase it. I will smash ur face in,” a message on Cromartie’s verified Twitter account said.

Hasselbeck tried to cool the situation by responding to Cromartie on his verified account.

“Sorry for the joke man,” he wrote. “No hard feelings. DB’s & QB’s have a hard time getting along I guess sometimes. lol”

Both players, along with many others, are in limbo as the players’ union and owners may be headed toward a lockout. The current labor agreement expires March 3.

Cromartie told reporters both sides were to blame.

“You got our head union rep acting like an a–hole,” Cromartie said Monday while cleaning out his Jets locker following the team’s AFC Championship loss to the Steelers.

“They [the NFL] got their guys acting like a–holes. So they just need to get their s– together and just get it done.”

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and Cardinals lineman Darnell Dockett spoke out against Cromartie, and he had words for them, too.

“I don’t give a who about Ray Lewis or @ddockett talking about what I said,” Cromartie wrote Wednesday on Twitter. “There’s 10’s of thousand ppl who will lose jobs. They taking our healthcare away and for players that have surgery can’t even get rehab once March 3rd gets here.”
