A reformed Gambino goon who broke a debtor’s jaw as a favor to “Sopranos” and “Goodfellas” actor Anthony Borgese was sentenced to probation today in Brooklyn federal court.
The thuggish thespian convinced Giovanni Monteleone, 45, and Gambino soldier Joey Orlando to beat down a Monticello man who owed the bit actor $5,000 back in 2009, papers show.
They ended ended up cracking the victim’s jaw and breaking his ribs after a vicious scuffle in front of his home, prosecutors said.
Borgese — who had a bottle broken over his head by Joe Pesci in the famed mob flick — was sentenced to six months house arrest for authoring the attack in 2011.
In a bid for lenience, Borgese even recorded a public service announcement counseling young men to avoid La Cosa Nostra.
Orlando, who had a lengthy rap sheet, was hit with 51 months in prison.
“I’d like to apologize for what I did,” Monteleone said Friday as his wife sobbed in the court gallery. “Still to this day it really bothers me that I basically hit an innocent man. If he was in front of me I would apologize to him.”
The feds caught one of the assailants describing the violent attack – and the actor’s real-life role in it.
“So Tony meets them. Shows them where the house is. They go to the house, the guy answers the door, they beat the living shit out of him,’ he said.
But Judge Eric Vitaliano noted that Monteleone, a mechanic, has stayed clean after the ugly incident and was active in his New Jersey neighborhood.
“He’s been an active, positive force in his community,” Vitaliano said before sentencing him to three years of probation.
Borgese, of Brooklyn, starred as nightclub owner Sonny Bunz in Goodfellas along with Robert DeNiro and Pesci.
He also starred in a strong of Sopranos episodes as a mafia capo.
