Obama’s slick oil move

THE ISSUE: The decision to release 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

What will President Obama do when the Strategic Petroleum Reserve runs dry (“Price Drop by ‘Crude’ Methods,” June 25)?

Wouldn’t it be easier to allow drilling in the huge reserves of oil we have here in America and off our coast?

Obama’s release of oil is a desperate move, as his poll numbers continue to slide.

This strategy will surely fail, as it amounts to barely two days’ worth of what Americans use daily.

Those who fear that a spill like the one in the gulf can impact their business for a season had better soon realize that not drilling for oil is having a much longer and deeper effect on the economy, costing lost wages year after year.

Until those who push a radical green agenda are balanced with the real economic needs of our nation, oil prices will remain high and the economic forecast bleak.
