MTA bus fatally strikes woman in Queens

A woman was struck and killed by an MTA bus in Queens Monday.

The pedestrian was crushed by the Q53 bus at Broadway and 74th Street around 4:40 p.m. in Jackson Heights, MTA and police officials said.

She was walking east when the bus made a right turn onto Broadway while going south and struck her. Witnesses said her head was pinned under the wheel of the bus.

The 39-year-old driver remained at the scene.

It was not immediately clear if the snowy roads had a role in the incident.

The woman appeared to be jaywalking at the time, sources said. The investigation is ongoing.
