Ziegfeld gets 1 more chance

The Ziegfeld Theatre isn’t dead yet!

After The Post revealed Sunday that New York’s largest surviving single-screen venue may face a shutdown because of losses of around $1 million a year, distressed movie fans took to Twitter and other social media demanding to keep this historic theater open.

Clearview Cinemas, which was put up for sale in May by its owner Cablevision and has declined to discuss the theater’s finances, indicated late yesterday afternoon it wouldn’t immediately shut down the famed venue.

“We have no plans to close the Ziegfeld Theatre,” Clearview said in a terse statement.
