Fans rush to buy L’Wren Scott’s final fashions

With the fate of her fashion line up in the air, L’Wren Scott’s fans rushed to posh city stores Tuesday to scoop up the tragic designer’s clothes.

At Barneys on Madison Avenue, Scott’s garments were flying off the shelves the day after her suicide, a saleswoman said.

“We’ve got two people in the dressing rooms trying them on now. We’d probably sell more, but the fit isn’t for everybody,” said the worker, noting that Scott typically targeted her designs for tall, pencil-thin women like herself.

Several of Scott’s most popular designs — including her signature black-and-white dresses, as well as a black sleeveless shift with a gold-embroidered neckline — had already sold out since Monday, the clerk said.

One worker said Scott’s regular clients wanted additional pieces by her because they had an emotional attachment to the charming, towering designer.

“She was very personable with the clients, and they want to embrace her and feel close to her by wearing her clothes,’’ the woman said.

It’s unclear whether Scott’s company, LS Fashion Ltd., will survive her death, but the signs aren’t good. Records show that the firm was nearly $6 million in debt in December.

But while her fashions may have been selling well in high-end Manhattan stores, they were drawing less-than-enthusiastic buyers online, even despite deep discounts.

A royal-blue silk jacquard gown from Scott’s fall 2011 collection, tagged at $4,340, was being offered on eBay for a “buy it now” price of $1,199.
