Reese, Giants plan to interview Te’o

MOBILE, Ala. — Like seemingly everyone else in the NFL, Giants general manager Jerry Reese is taking a wait-and-see approach to Manti Te’o.

Reese said yesterday he wants to hear Te’o’s version of events at the scouting combine next month before deciding if the Notre Dame linebacker’s draft stock has fallen in the wake of his bizarre, fake-girlfriend controversy.

“It’s too early to say anything definitive,” Reese said while attending Senior Bowl practices. “We need to get more details.”

Reese said the Giants — who appear to be in the market for an inside linebacker — plan to include Te’o among their large batch of extensive player interviews at the combine.

Te’o turned down an invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl this week but is scheduled to be interviewed on national TV today by Katie Couric about being what he says is the victim of an elaborate, years-long hoax.
