De Blasio’s bishop buddy boasts ties to Obama

He has more than one friend in high places.

Politically connected Bishop Orlando Findlayter of Brooklyn posted a photo of himself and President Obama on his Facebook page.

It appeared to be from a White House faith breakfast, hosted by Obama, with religious leaders.

A caption reads “With Appreciation” and was signed by Obama.

The ties of Findlayter, the head of the New Hope Christian Church, to powerful elected officials gained attention Tuesday after it was learned that Mayor de Blasio called a top NYPD official to find out his arrest. Findlayter was later sprung from jail.

Findlayter, who helped provide key votes in de Blasio’s successful mayoral run last year, was pulled over by police Monday night in East Flatbush for making a left turn without signaling, authorities said.

After police discovered he had two outstanding warrants, issued Jan. 16, he was arrested. But after de Blasio called a senior police official, Findlayter avoided spending a night behind bars.

The commanding officer of the local police precinct went to the stationhouse to personally spring the bishop.
