Bridge scandal hurt Christie’s presidential hopes

WASHINGTON — The scandal is already hurting Chris Christie’s presidential hopes in key primary states.

“It will have influence,” said Tamara Scott, committeewoman for the GOP in Iowa, home to the nation’s first nominating contest.

“Certainly, what we are seeing is not a positive on anyone’s résumé,” she said.

Allen Lollis, a vice chair in the South Carolina GOP, said its voters are watching.

“It’s kind of hard not to when it’s on TV and it’s the only thing on,” he said.

Lollis and Scott say Christie can still repair his image.

“It’s a wait-and-see thing,” Lollis said.
