Our expert at his best during fantasy playoffs

When the first of the Fantasy Tracker’s 86 teams suffered a loss this season, it was crushing. But we found a way past that Week 1 defeat (actually, multiple Week 1 defeats among the 86 teams).

Turns out, you don’t have to go undefeated to do pretty well.

The Tracker posted an overall record of 652-451-13 in 85 leagues (leaving out one specialty league that played four games a week). That’s a winning percentage of .590 (average record of 8-5) — which falls just below the Tracker’s self-imposed satisfaction threshold of 60 percent.

But we made up for it in the playoffs. Normally, the winning percentage goes down against better competition, but the Tracker spit in the face of reason this season.

Out of 86 teams, 50 made the postseason (58 percent), 28 advanced it to title games (33 percent), 18 won league titles (21 percent) and 17 posted the best regular-season record (20 percent).

The Tracker’s playoff mark was 48-32 (.600), comfortably above our .500 threshold for success.

But the Tracker couldn’t do it alone. For their assistance in our postseason endeavors, the Tracker would like to thank Nick Foles, Philip Rivers, LeSean McCoy, Dez Bryant, DeMarco Murray, A.J. Green and Jamaal Charles — all of whom played key roles in winning various leagues.

But the Tracker’s accomplishments are short-lived. Already, the postseason depression is setting in, the emptiness of a dwindling football schedule looms, the withdrawal of fantasy drafting and roster shaping already is generating nervous tics.

Next season can’t come soon enough. Until then, this is your Post fantasy madman signing off.

The Decision

The battle of fantasy picks between Drew Loftis and Steve Serby came down to the wire. The season series was tied heading into the final week, with Loftis pitting Nick Foles against Serby’s Jay Cutler:

Final: Loftis 16 (Foles — 263 passing yards, two TDs, one fumble lost); Serby 15 (Cutler — 226 passing yards, two TDs, one INT).

Season: Drew wins series, 9-8.
