Port Authority approves $875M deal for WTC observatory

The Port Authority’s board of commissioners today approved a $875 million deal to open an observatory on top of the World Trade Center.

“It will be one of the world’s great destinations,” said PA executive director Pat Foye.

The deck will occupy the 100th, 101st and 102nd floors.

Legends Hospitality Management – which runs Yankee Stadium – will operate the observatory.

Visitors will ascend to the deck in one of the building’s five high speed elevators.

They’ll reach the top in just 60 seconds, making the elevators some of the fastest in the world, officials said.
