Jack Nicholson gets to make a lot of scary faces as a blocked, tortured novelist who takes his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son, (Danny Lloyd) to a shuttered hotel to work as caretaker during the long, cold winter. Stanley Kubrick, acting as caretaker of Stephen King’s own tortured novel, turns the movie both comic and occasionally harrowing as the writer descends into homicidal madness . “Redrum!!”

Bridesmaids, 2011

Tuesday, 10 p.m., Cinemax

Melissa McCarthy steals the show as one of the out-of-control bridesmaids in Kristen Wiig’s often hilarious buddy movie. Wiig stars as Annie, a miserable, failed bakery owner who feels the next thing she’ll lose is her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph), when her pal becomes engaged. Seems that Lillian’s new, rich BF, Helen (Rose Byrne), has decided to take control of the wedding plans, leaving Annie out of luck — and money.

Muriel’s Wedding, 1994

Friday, 8 p.m., FLIXe

Speaking of weddings, Toni Collette stars as Muriel Heslop, a plump, clumsy, unattractive and rabid ABBA fan in this quirky, unexpected and wonderfully funny movie. Muriel lives in a fantasy world where she’s a perpetual bride, and decides to leave her suburban Aussie town for Sydney, after stealing her father’s girlfriend’s money. In the big city, she moves in with an oversexed, soon-to-be paraplegic friend (Rachel Griffiths). Don’t ask — but do watch.

Machete, 2010

Saturday, 8 p.m., FMC

Directors Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis’sbloody exploitation throwback to the bad old days. A double-crossed assassin (Danny Trejo) gets even. With crazy guest performances by — get this — Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal and others. The wildest movie you never saw is so odd it makes “Muriel’s Wedding” look normal! 100 percent bloodshed, 10o percent of the time.
