Jets pay Revis $1 million bonus

Darrelle Revis, despite the angst of his uncertain status with the Jets, became $1 million richer yesterday.

As part of his contract, if Revis was still on the Jets roster by 4 p.m., he was owed a $1 million bonus.

The fact the Jets, who are listening to trade offers from teams for their star cornerback, wasn’t traded before the team had to pay him the money is a strong indicator there are no strong offers on the table from interested teams.

That could change today when the annual NFL owners meetings begin in Phoenix, where there surely will be conversations between the Jets and anyone interested in Revis (Tampa Bay?).

Revis, who won’t actually receive the money until later in the calendar year, is due to make $6 million in 2013 and is seeing a new long-term team paying him $15 to $16 million per year. The Jets are not believed to have any interest in paying that kind of money for him.

Revis also has $1 million workout bonus due in June and another $1 million reporting bonus in late July in his contract.

The Jets yesterday officially announced the signings of kicker Nick Folk as well as guard Willie Colon and defensive tackle Antonio Garay, two free agents who agreed to terms on Friday. Folk, who was a free agent, has been the Jets kicker for the last two seasons.
