Wisconsin shocks Indiana in Big Ten semis

Ryan Evans scored 16 points to help No. 22 Wisconsin upset No. 3 Indiana 68-56 in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament yesterday in Chicago.

The Badgers (23-10) allowed only seven points after the top-seeded Hoosiers (27-6) pulled within one with 9:45 left. They earned their 12th consecutive win against Indiana, tying a record for any school against the powerhouse program, and will play Ohio State in today’s final.

Christian Watford scored 14 points for Indiana, and Cody Zeller had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Ohio St. 61, Michigan St. 58

In Chicago, Aaron Craft came on strong in the second half to finish with 20 points and lead No. 10 Ohio State (25-7) past No. 8 Michigan State (25-8) in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament.

Miami 81, North Carolina St. 71

In Greensboro, N.C., Durand Scott scored a career-high 32 points to help No. 9 Miami (26-6) beat North Carolina State (24-10) in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament semifinals, earning its first trip to the championship game.

North Carolina 79, Maryland 76

In Greensboro, N.C., Dexter Strickland and Reggie Bullock scored 15 points apiece and North Carolina (24-9) held on to beat Maryland (22-12) in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament semifinals.

Florida 61, Alabama 51

In Nashville, Tenn., Kenny Boynton scored 11 straight points during a 15-0 second-half run and No. 13 Florida (26-6) overcame a 10-point, second-half deficit to beat Alabama (21-12) in the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals.

Mississippi 64, Vanderbilt 52

In Nashville, Tenn., Marshall Henderson scored 23 points as Mississippi (25-8) beat Vanderbilt (16-17) in the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals, putting the Rebels one win from making sure their NCAA Tournament berth is automatic.

Kansas 70, Kansas St. 54

In Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Withey had 17 points and nine rebounds, Perry Ellis and Naadir Tharpe added 12 points each, and No. 7 Kansas (29-5) pounded No. 11 Kansas State (27-7) to win their ninth Big 12 tournament championship.

Memphis 91, Southern Mississippi 79

In Tulsa, Okla., Chris Crawford scored 23 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in double overtime, and No. 20 Memphis(30-4) beat Southern Mississippi (25-9) to win its seventh Conference USA tournament title in the past eight years.

New Mexico 63, UNLV 56

In Las Vegas, Tony Snell scored 13 straight points for New Mexico during a second-half run as the No. 15 Lobos (29-5) pulled away late to beat UNLV (25-9) add the Mountain West tournament title to their regular season crown.

Oregon 78, UCLA 69

In Las Vegas, Carlos Emory scored 20 points, Johnathan Loyd added 19 and Oregon (26-8) pulled away from No. 21 UCLA (25-9) to win the Pac-12 tournament championship at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
