Sandy nightmare rains down on LI

On this block, it’s Sandy each time it rains.

Residents of Harrison Avenue in Babylon, LI, have been living in a flooded marsh since October’s hurricane from hell, unable to park in their driveways and having to use rowboats to take their kids to the bus stop.

“Hopefully, we haven’t forgot our boots, because we’ll be rolling up our pants and walking in bare feet,” said Vincent Fiore, 60, who’s lived there with his wife for 21 years.

Canals border the street on three sides, and drainage pipes intended to move most yards’ rainwater out to sea have rusted over the years, leading to flooding at high tide.

“The drains are packed full of dirt. Where’s the water gonna go?” said Howard Frank, 42, who spent $35,000 to rehab his home after Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.
