Knife-wielding mugger attacks woman in Tudor City

Detectives are on the hunt for a knife-wielding mugger who accosted a young woman and swiped her pocketbook in Manhattan’s Tudor City, police said.

The unidentified man, in his 20’s, came up behind the 33-year-old woman on a stairwell leading into Tudor City at East 42nd Street while she was walking home from work around 7:20 p.m. on March 18, sources said.

The 5-foot-7, 140-pound suspect then grabbed her, pulled a knife and ordered her to surrender her purse, cops said.

When she refused, the thief threw her up against a wall, causing her to suffer a minor head injury.

The terrified victim quickly gave her purse to the assailant, who then dashed off.

Anyone with information in regards to this robbery is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
