B’klyn gangbanger shot by cops arrested on weapons charges

The Brooklyn gangbanger that cops shot and wounded yesterday was arrested on weapons charges, police said.

Shaquille Reid, 20, was following a group of three men near Livonia Avenue and Grafton Street in Brownsville at 6:05 p.m. and a witness saw him extending his hand as if he was carrying a gun, cops said.

Reid claimed he had a few Barcardis at a nearby pool hall before he allegedly lost his cool and started following the men after he noticed one man staring at him and the other two laughing, cops said.

Two narcotics cops sitting in an unmarked car saw Reid with the gun and they hopped out to pursue him, cops said.

“Police get down,” they yelled to the gunman.

Reid, a member of the ATC crew, then squeezed off one round, but it is unclear if he shot at the officers or at the three men he had been following.

The detective and officer fired at the man three times and struck him once in the right hand, police said.

Reid, who has a prior robbery arrest, was taken to Kings County Hospital in police custody and later arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

A Colt Gold Cup 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene, cops said.
