NOW’S THE TIME TO DETECT ID THEFT

As students settle back into routines at college campuses around the country, so do identity thieves.

And as more and more college students carry credit cards, buy and sell things online and carry PDAs packed with personal information, life, it would seem, has never been easier for scammers to steal someone’s ID.

Last year, more than 15 million people were victims of ID theft – costing them more than $60 billion and aggravation.

To combat the rising ID theft problem, new companies have sprouted up. One of these companies, IndentityTruth.com, promises “the earliest possible notification” of a possible theft.

CEO Steven Dominikos claims his Boston-based concern remains at the cutting-edge by scanning “dozens of different data sources,” including utility accounts, apartment rentals, cell phone applications and even change of address applications at the post office.
