IT’S BS FOR FIRST ‘W’

QUARTERBACKS B

Give him time and eventually he’ll make the throws. That’s the deal with Eli Man ning (21 of 36, 232 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs). Very bad decision on throwaway INT downfield, but very good decision on key audible.

RUNNING BACKS B+

Talk about taking advantage of an op portunity. Derrick Ward (26-94 plus six receptions for 26 yards) kept the chains moving once again and is showing his durabil ity.

WIDE RECEIVERS B-

Tale of two halves for Plaxico Burress (5-86, 1 TD), who had three drops and no catches in a dreadful first half and then dominated after halftime playing on a sprained right ankle.

TIGHT ENDS B+

Steady threat provided by Jeremy Shockey (5-79), who finally got down field.

OFFENSIVE LINE B

Some trouble early vs. the Redskins’ pressure but got better as the game wore on.

DEFENSIVE LINE B

Push from the edges from DEs Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan helped with heat up the middle. Justin Tuck (should be credited with one-half sack) contin ues his strong play.

LINEBACKERS B+

Two huge plays on final goal-line stand by Kawika Mitchell. Better recog nition by Mathias Kiwanuka (eight tack les, two sacks), who finally lined up inside and got after the quarterback.

SECONDARY B+

Might have been best game in Giants uniform for CB Sam Madison. Not so for CB Corey Webster, who took a bad angle on 49-yard catch by Santana Moss (3-82) and was benched in second half.

SPECIAL TEAMS C-

Comeback was nearly wrecked by the shoddy work of the coverage units, as late in the fourth quarter Rock Cart wright had a 36-yard kickoff return and Ant waan Randle El had a 27-yard punt return.

KICKING GAME B

Lawrence Tynes nailed his lone FG attempt from 34 yards. Jeff Feagles, forced to punt out of his own end zone, didn’t get great distance but did angle the ball out of bounds.

COACHING B

Good move by defensive staff to fi nally bench Webster and insert Ross. For one week, what Tom Coughlin preached – win the fourth quarter – turned into reality.
