FEDS PUSHING TO END ‘HIT-MAN’ ACID REIGN

A depraved Gambino assassin devoted three decades to killing for the mob and lining his pockets with cash from terrified victims, prosecutors said in closing arguments yesterday.

Charles Carneglia’s “value to the Gambino family is he’s a killer. He excelled at intimidation and violence, assaulting with acid, killing with knives, killing with guns,” Assistant US Attorney Evan Norris told jurors in Brooklyn federal court.

The prosecutor wrote off defense arguments that Carneglia, 62, left the mob several years ago and therefore cannot be convicted of racketeering under the statute of limitations.

“Don’t be fooled by any desperate argument,” Norris said, adding that Carneglia got cash from the mob up until his arrest last year.
