MAVERICKY MCCAIN KID BLASTS ‘OFFENSIVE’ COULTER

Looking like a maverick-off-the-old-block, Meghan McCain yesterday laid into conservative lightning rod Ann Coulter, calling her “offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing.”

Writing in her regular column for thedailybeast.com, McCain, daughter of Republican Sen. John McCain, complained that Coulter is among “certain” GOP women who “continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Republicans.

“I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity,” McCain wrote.

“I find her offensive, radical, insulting and confusing all at the same time.”

Coulter, at Radio City Music Hall last night for a debate with TV host and pundit Bill Maher, blew off the criticism.

“Surprisingly, I’m not upset,” she deadpanned.

Maher, asked if he agreed that Coulter was just as McCain described, quipped: “Yes, to all four.”

In her column, McCain said it was Coulter’s “demeanor” that she found most troubling.

“Everything about her is extreme: her voice, her interview tactics and, especially, the public statements she makes about liberals,” she wrote. “Maybe her popularity stems from the fact that watching her is sometimes like watching a train wreck.”

Meghan McCain was among the sold-out, 6,000-seat Radio City crowd.

“I’m here!” she shouted when the debate mediator asked where she was sitting. It was front-row center, but she didn’t participate in the debate onstage.

On the other hand, people in the crowd left no doubt about their distaste for Coulter.

Her 15-minute introduction was peppered with “boos” and “shut-up”s from one male spectator who was tossed out.
