WEINER TO FIX MODEL MESS

Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (right) mayoral team is expected to correct its cam paign filings this week after it included contributions from foreign models who aren’t legally allowed to do nate, officials said yesterday.

Team Weiner is making the move after The Post ex posed the donations listed in their filings last July.

Weiner’s campaign got the contributions at a fund-raiser held at the eatery Merkato 55 about a month after a bill he was pushing to expand working visas to foreign models made headlines.

Weiner’s staff filed paperwork with the city Campaign Finance Board last July showing contributions from three foreign models who are here on visas – and applied for taxpayer matching funds on the donations.

Last week, when The Post first reported on the issue, Weiner’s camp insisted it hadn’t deposited the checks, but offered no explanation for why it included them in the filings.

They also wouldn’t explain why they didn’t correct the record during the last filing period a few weeks ago, or offer proof the checks were returned.

According to CFB rules, donations are supposed to be deposited or returned to the donor within 10 days.

Since then, sources have said the campaign itself flagged the contributions as problematic because they were checks from one person made out in the names of the models, which could be a violation.
