Payrolls probably grew in March and factories kept assembly lines moving, signaling the expansion chugged ahead even as federal spending cuts set in, economists said before reports this week. Employers hired a net 200,000 workers last month after taking on 236,000 in February, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

Bribery probe

A Lake Forest, Calif.-unit of Panasonic that makes inflight entertainment and communications systems for airlines is under a bribery investigation by US regulators, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing company documents.

Tough Tofutti

Tofutti Brands reported a net loss of $824,000 last year versus a profit of $43,000 the previous year. The Cranford, NJ, company, in a filing late Friday, attributed the downturn to not making any sales to Trader Joe’s in 2012. Sales in the year fell 9.9 percent from 2011.
