MAYORAL CONTROL VOTE SET

Mayor Bloomberg will be fully — and legally — in charge of education again by the end of next week, state senators promised yesterday.

Senate Democratic leaders announced they will approve legislation to renew mayoral control of city schools next Thursday.

“At that time we will take up legislation, including school governance for the city of New York and chapter amendments to the bill,” Senate Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson (Brooklyn), Senate President Malcolm Smith (Queens) and Majority Leader Pedro Espada (Bronx) said in a joint statement.

Expected ratification will come after months of stormy debate in the Legislature.
