Obama lends ‘terrific’ Tiger some presidential support

Barack Obama has lent some presidential support to the imminent return of fallen sports star Tiger Woods, declaring Wednesday that he would still be a “terrific golfer” when he starts playing again.

After being quizzed on more weighty international and domestic issues, the U.S. leader was told that Fox News viewers were keen to get his opinion on the imminent comeback of the world’s top golfer.

Only this week, Woods announced his return to competition at the upcoming Masters after five months of self-imposed exile following a sex scandal that made headlines around the world.

“You know, I think that Tiger has acknowledged that he betrayed his family and that’s a personal issue that he has got to work out,” Obama told Fox News.

“I hope they have worked it out, I’m sure he is going to still be a terrific golfer.”

Obama himself is a keen golfer although it is not clear whether he intends to watch Woods when he plays in this year’s first major at Augusta on April 8.

Woods has already offered a very public apology for his infidelities, which emerged in great detail after a November 27 car crash near his home.
