Sandra Bullock may emerge from hiding by attending the ‘Kids’ Choice’ awards

Update: Sandra Bullock will not be attending Nickelodeon’s live “Kids’ Choice Awards.” “There were never any plans for her to attend,” says the star’s rep, reports People.com.

Sandra Bullock, who hasn’t been seen in public since her husband was caught up in a marital cheating scandal, may make her first appearance at — of all places — a kids’ awards show.

Since the news broke two weeks ago that her husband Jesse James had been secretly carrying on with a tattooed pole dancer, the Oscar-winning actress has been in hiding — canceling a series of public appearances to promote her movie, “The Blind Side,” here and in Europe.

But the one event she hasn’t canceled so far is her date to appear at Nickelodeon’s live “Kids’ Choice Awards” show tomorrow night in LA.

Bullock is a nominee for favorite movie actress this year, a prize most thought she’d win over rival nominees Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Zoe Saldana.

A network spokesman said they had not yet received word late yesterday that she was dropping out and speculation was high that she — and stepdaughter Sunny James — would use the family-friendly event to emerge from hiding.

The awards show is one of the most-watched events of the year in kids’ TV, able to draw most of the biggest names in Hollywood because its young teen audience is the prime, movie-going crowd.

Just as important, celebrities can be heroes to their own young kids who — unimpressed with their famous parents — jump at the chance to meet the stars of their favorite shows.

Bullock is reportedly very close to Sunny, James’ 6-year-old daughter from his first marriage.
