3 dead, 6 wounded in Washington, D.C. shootings

Three people have been killed and six others injured in two drive-by shootings in southeast Washington D.C. on Tuesday night, myFOXdc.com reported.

Four D.C. Police officers were also hurt in a crash which occurred as they chased the suspects into Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Police believe the situation began with one shooting on Galveston Street SW in the District, where an 18-year-old man was shot. According to police, his injuries were non-life threatening.

The second shooting involved multiple victims and took place at Brandywine and S. Capitol Streets SE.

Police told myFOXdc.com that was where eight people were shot, with three people killed.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said all of the victims are aged in their 20s and 30s, with the exception of one teenager.

Police said six males and three females were hit by gunfire, with the AK-47 used in the attacks found near the shooting scene, having apparently been thrown from a vehicle.

Prince George’s County Police said four officers were injured as they were chasing the suspects, with at least two police cruisers damaged when they crashed at St. Barnabas Road and Larry Avenue in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Three suspects are in custody.

Authorities gave no indication of a motive in the shootings.
