New York loves bringing up the rear.
The Big Apple has the highest interest in “Brazilian butt lifts,” beating out all other American cities, a plastic-surgery referral Web site has found.
At least 378,000 New Yorkers searched the RealSelf site for info about the procedure — in which fat from the abdomen or lower back is injected into the buttocks — between November 2013 and January 2014, the site’s reps say.
That’s more than three times as many as Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta.
Patients attributed the gap to a shift in the idea of beauty among New Yorkers.
“It’s like fitness is a fashion statement. Curvy in the right places is the new sexy,” said one patient, 35, from Carroll Gardens who recently had a butt lift.
Dr. David Shafer, a Midtown plastic surgeon who specializes in butt lifts, says the op has become more popular in recent months.
“It’s no longer this anorexic-model look that the magazines tell people they’re supposed to look like,” said Shafer, 39.
He says he consults six to eight patients on Brazilian butt lifts per week, on par with breast augmentations.
LA had the second-highest interest in the lifts, with 138,227 page views, followed by Miami (108,341) and Atlanta (98,993).
The surgery costs $8,000 to $12,000.
