FAMILY: CHRISTIAN BALE NEEDED TO BE ‘TAUGHT A LESSON’

Christian Bale’s mother and sister are “devastated” that their confrontation with the actor led to his arrest but they also believe he had to be “taught a lesson,” London’s Sun newspaper reported.

The two went to his hotel room Sunday so his sister, Sharon, could ask him for a $200,000 loan to help raise her three children.

“The Dark Knight” star refused.

At some point during the discussion, Bale’s mother, Jenny, reportedly insulted his wife, Sibi Blazic, which caused him to “fly off the handle.” He allegedly “pushed and shoved” his mother and sister, The Sun reported.

Bale was questioned for four hours by police earlier this week about the incident but then released. He has denied the charges.

Today in Spain, Bale said at a press conference for the movie, “It’s a deeply personal matter. I would ask you to respect my privacy in the matter.”

A source close to the case told The Sun, “Christian is a very wealthy young man and was asked to help his sister out financially. He was asked to loan her ú100,000 but he refused and that caused an almighty row.

“During that row, the women claim, he assaulted them by pushing and shoving them. Both Jenny and Sharon are terribly upset over what happened.

They did not want any publicity and the last thing they wanted to do was wreck his premiere evening. But they say he bullied them. They are both devastated that it has come to this but want him to be taught a lesson.”

Bale has to return to London in September to find out whether he will be charged.
