Thieves’ iPhone bait and switch scam

A pair of slick thieves are wanted for ripping off restaurants and computer stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn by offering workers Apple products but switching the electronics out for empty boxes once they scored the cash, cops said.

The crooks began their crime spree in Brooklyn at DEV Computers on 5th Avenue in Sunset Park on February 10th, where the two suspects showed store employees a bagful of Apple products but swapped the goods out for an empty bag after pocketing the money, cops said.

The two men used the same scheme three more times throughout February and March a citywide grand larceny pattern, cops said.

On February 14th, they struck again, this time ripping off workers at JJ Wireless Station in Boro Park, cops said.

The next day, they took their act to Manhattan, where they pulled this same stunt at Shangri-La Restaurant on Lexington Avenue, according to police.

Cops say the duo’s last score was at a restaurant in Morningside Heights on March 6th.

No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing, according to cops.
