FAVE FOR MTA CHIEF OFF TRACK

Marc Shaw’s chances of taking over as MTA chief appear to be derailed.

The transit adviser to Gov. Paterson and former deputy to Mayor Bloomberg, once considered a front-runner for the job, is “arrogant” and “inflexible,” said a key Senate Democrat who has vowed to block Shaw from getting the post.

“If the way he conducted negotiations is any indication of how he’s going to run the MTA, I’m not supporting him,” said Sen. Martin Malave Dilan (D-Brooklyn), referring to recent negotiations on the $2.3 billion MTA bailout.

Anyone Gov. Paterson nominates to succeed Elliot Sander needs approval from the Senate Transportation Committee, run by Dilan, as well as the Finance Committee, before going for a full Senate vote.
