BIKER-DEATH COP SLAPPED

A city cop involved in the deadly chase of a motorcyclist has been allowed to keep his job, despite violating several NYPD guidelines — including failing to call an ambulance to help the mortally injured biker, The Post has learned.

Philip Ditto was slapped with a 30-day suspension and given one year’s probation after admitting in departmental proceedings to a string of wrongdoings connected to the 40-block pursuit that ended in the death of Robert Roman, a young father, records show.

Ditto was on patrol in Brooklyn in a radio car driven by Officer Christopher Lee in July 2006 when they spotted Roman apparently speeding.

Without hitting their lights or sirens, the cops sped after Roman before he was hit by another car and thrown to the ground.

Roman’s family eventually settled for $305,000 from the city. The case against Lee is pending.
