Comptroller Bill Thompson trashed Mayor Bloomberg’s record on education and decried the Ground Zero construction lag during last night’s Democratic mayoral candidates debate.
Thompson, the leading Dem vying to unseat Bloomberg, largely ignored his opponent, Queens City Councilman Tony Avella.
Both candidates were asked if they ever smoked pot. Thompson said yes, but didn’t elaborate. Avella simply said no.
Team Bloomberg retaliated with attacks on Thompson’s campaign for accepting donations from those who invest pension money, which the comptroller oversees.
