Jets DE Shaun Ellis replaced the Colts’ Robert Mathis, who cannot play because his team is headed to the Super Bowl after beating Gang Green in the AFC Championship. Ellis is playing in the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2003, despite breaking his hand against the Chargers two weeks ago. AP

Giants C Shaun O’Hara was the only Giants player to make the Pro Bowl not as a replacement. He was named as a reserve, but will start because the Cowboys’ Andre Gurode pulled out of the game with an injury. This will be O’Hara’s second consecutive Pro Bowl. Richard A. Brightly

Steve Smith will be the first Giant to play the receiver position in the Pro Bowl in 42 years, when Homer Jones made it (David Tyree made the game as special-teamer in 2005). Smith set a franchise record with 107 catches, but was considered a Pro Bowl snub until he replaced banged-up Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald on the squad. AP
