Dharma map

In Season 2, John Locke finds a map on the back of a blast door in the hatch, visible only under black light. The map identified various stations of the Dharma Initiative and other mysteries of the island. It was supposedly drawn by Stuart Radzinsky, the Dharma worker last seen tapping into the pocket of “exotic matter” — and apparently forced to pay penance by discharging that energy every 108 minutes. Radzinsky eventually committed suicide, leaving the button pushing to Kelvin and then Desmond. Heavily examined by “Lost” fans, many of the places on the map have since been visited:

1. The Arrow — Station used to spy on the Others (or “Hostiles” as the Dharma people called them), and develop strategies against them. It was where the members of the tail section of the crash gathered. It was mostly empty.

2. The Tempest —Though not identified by name on the map, notations near it indicated that it’s chemical-weapons facility. It was developed by Dharma, but the chemicals were used by the Others to wipe out the Dharma people.

3. The Temple — Though also unidentified, the notation “here be dragons” makes it likely this dotted-line area is the Temple. Also, the “CV” boxes scattered around it stand for “Cerberus vent,” or places where the smoke monster (named after the three-headed guardian of hell) has been spotted. “Tunnels” are also referenced, referring to the place the Others hid the nuclear bomb.

4. The Swan — The station built on top of the pocket of exotic matter that was breached, used to contain its energy and keep it from destroying the world. This is the first hatch the survivors find.

5. The Flame — An outdoor communication station that Dharma — and later Ben -— used to talk to the outside world and monitor television broadcasts.

6. The Staff — Medical facility

used by the Others to research why women couldn’t give birth on the island. It’s unclear what Dharma used it for, though possibly medical experiments.

7. The Pearl (labeled “?” on the map) — A small, central station with a bank of monitors used to spy on all the other stations.

8. The Orchid? Crossed out on the map, this could be the station built over the wheel that moves the island.
