‘Real Housewives’ leaves cable confines

NBC’s “Real House wives” franchise is moving into syndication.

Reruns of the “Housewives” series will begin airing weekdays on Ch. 4 next fall, NBC announced yesterday.

While nothing is official yet, it’s expected that all four of the “Housewives” franchises — New York, New Jersey, Orange County and Atlanta — will air in syndication.

The originals air on Bravo, NBC’s sister cable network.

It hasn’t been worked out how the repeats will air, but episodes from each individual series — like “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” — are expected to air in continuous blocks for continuity purposes.

In addition to Ch. 4, the “Housewives” will air on NBC-owned stations in LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, Miami, San Diego and Hartford, Ct.

The series will also air on stations owned by Hearst (including Tampa, Sacramento and Baltimore).

“‘The Real Housewives’ is a very successful franchise, especially popular with women,” NBC local media president John Wallace said in a release.

“And by coming to broadcast television stations in daytime, this series will appeal to a new audience that is looking for something that stands out from the pack.”

There’s no word, yet, on where “Housewives” will air on Ch. 4.
