Authorities seek to identify mysterious teen

Police are seeking the public’s help in trying to indentify a young woman with no memory of her name, home or family.

“We are asking anyone who may know this young woman to help us locate her family as quickly as possible, so we can safely reunite her with those who love her,” ACS Commissioner John Mattingly said this afternoon.

“She is safe with us, and we are doing all we can to help her, but she needs to find her family.”

“I just want to know who I am,” the soft-spoken, blonde youth, who was found on Oct.9, 2009 in Times Square at about 12:30 a.m. and is estimated to be between 14 and 17. “I want to know who I am, and what happened to me.”

The young woman is 5-foot-6, medium build, light complexion, short, with straight blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was not carrying any ID, police said.

At one point, she wrote down the name “Amber” and responded to the name on one occasion, but she claims she has no idea whether or not it is her name, according to ACS.

She recently found herself recalling the words to what turns out to be an excerpt from a fantasy novel called “Fools Fete” by the author Robin Hobb.

She also said she has been writing a fantasy story featuring a heroine named Rian “who’s been raised by the commander of the guard post on the edge of a fantasy kingdom.”
