Louis C.K. rewrites his family

Louis C.K. is getting a do-over.

The 42-year-old “comic’s comic” — whose HBO sitcom “Lucky Louie” died after 13 episodes in 2006 — gets another chance at a new series, “Louie,” on FX tomorrow night.

“It’s me . . . but the stories are all made up and exaggerated,” says C.K., a divorced father of two.

FX is not airing the show until 11 p.m., a warning that the comic’s often-controversial stand-up act interwoven with his behind-the-scenes family life is not for everyone.

“I take my pants down at least once in a show,” he tells The Post.

Q: How close is TV “Louie” to real life Louis?

I look at it as ‘autobiographical fiction.’ I am definitely a more dumb version of myself [on the show]. Dumber and funnier.

Q: You have two daughters on the show.

They are very different from my daughters. My daughters are really mature for their age. They are very sweet people. Very considerate. Very fun to be with and very tom. That’s not funny.

So I kind of created a couple of characters that are a little crankier and a little more insistent.

Q: What do your real daughters think of them?

My daughters have seen parts of the show. And they are intrigued by the idea that I have these two girls. I showed the girls a scene where I am yelling at my kids to get ready to go to school and they know where it comes from. I think it is very funny to them.

Q: You sound like a regular “Mr. Mom.”

I like kids. They are more fun than most grown-ups.

Q: Would you ever want more?

Absolutely not. I will make sure of that surgically.

Q: You’ve said that you like upsetting people. Is that why you called the Pope a pedophile on “The Daily Show” last week?

It was an intriguing thought, so I said it.

Q: Clearly people are upset about it.

I think there is this weird new thing in America where people think they should be shielded from hearing things that they don’t like hearing. I think that is kind of silly.

Talking is never a bad trait. You learn that from marriage and divorce and stuff. It is good to say things out loud. So if people are talking about the idea, that is good. I can take the heat if people are upset. That’s OK.
