What’s the deal with Lady Gaga?
Jerry Seinfeld went on a comedic tear more befitting the Soup Nazi in the wake of the “Poker Face” singer’s finger-flipping freak-out inside his Citi Field luxury box.
“Oh, she’s a jerk. I give the finger [to her],” Seinfeld told pal Steve Somers, on his WFAN sports talk show.
Seinfeld had initially wanted to dodge talk about Gaga’s un-ladylike act on June 10, when she made a spectacle of herself at Citi Field during a Mets-Padres game.
But Somers egged him on, pointing out during Monday night’s show: “They didn’t escort her out of Citi Field, they escorted her to your luxury box!”
Seinfeld took the bait and tore into Gaga with a barrage of put-downs.
“You know, I changed my mind, you’re right,” he said. “This woman’s a jerk!
“I hate her. I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for,” he said. “You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in now? It’s pathetic!”
The outrageous songstress displayed her inner “fame monster” when Mets employees had the audacity to escort her to front-row seats.
Gaga, sporting a gold-studded bra and bikini bottoms, pitched a fit because she was too close to sports photographers. So she was led to Seinfeld’s empty luxury box, where she flipped the crowd the bird.
Apparently, it wasn’t enough for Gaga to make an idiot of herself in Flushing, so she took her boorish act to Yankee Stadium, where she crashed the Bombers clubhouse on Friday night.
The boozed-up singer’s unwelcome visit infuriated team co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner, who ordered that she be banned from ever setting foot in the Yankee clubhouse again.
“Get an act! Rhinestone bikinis and giving people the finger . . . She is talented. I don’t know why she’s doing this stuff,” Seinfeld grumbled. “Oh, please, wake me when it’s over.”
The famed comic pointed out that Gaga’s finger of choice — the middle one — is about as clichéd as it gets.
“Speaking of interesting and new, how old is the finger?” he said. “How did it even get to be ‘The finger?’ Somewhere along the line everybody decided this finger is very bad to show.”
“Now the thumbs-up is the good finger, right?” said Seinfeld, as Somers noted that an extended index finger is also an acceptable gesture. “So you’re really one finger from a compliment, the way I see it.”
A spokesman for the Mets said, “Jerry’s p.r. person put out a statement that Lady Gaga was just showing her support for the Mets and that we were No. 1. There’s nothing more to say on the matter.”
A rep for Gaga could not be reached yesterday.
