Facebook’s video chat-ter

Mark Zuckerberg sent the tech blogs scrambling late last week when he said Facebook would have an “awesome” announcement this week.

Many Internet analysts thought the announcement might just be Facebook’s way of responding to Google’s social networking service debut called Google+.

Well, according to reports, the social network will be announcing a Skype-powered video chat service. Skype and Facebook already have already done partnered deals where Facebook updates are fed into Skype clients.

Now it appears Skype is returning the favor by being embedded onto the user’s profile page, but these rumors have been going around for the past six months.

Both Facebook and Skype refused to comment on the postings. f
