Here’s New York’s real King of Beers.
Boardy Barn in Hampton Bays — a massive guzzle-fest only open for several hours each week — incredibly sells more cups of brew on a summer afternoon than Yankee Stadium or Citi Field on a game day, a distributor told The Post.
The East End watering hole’s thirsty patrons — who usually total more than 2,000 — ran through an astounding 600 kegs of Budweiser in seven hours on the Sunday before Memorial Day, said a source familiar with the business.
The math is mind-boggling. With roughly 165 servings in a keg, the Boardy Barn sold nearly 100,000 cups of beer at $2 a pop.
That’s about seven beers per hour for each customer.
“They say that if we were open year round, we would sell more beer than at Yankee Stadium in a season,” said co-owner Tony Galgano, who opened the destination in 1978 at the age of 26. “The amount of beer that has flowed through here is amazing.”
Boardy Barn is open from 4 to 8 p.m. on summer Sundays, but on especially busy days, hours are extended.
The outdoor saloon has a huge tent-covered area and a giant indoor space, where 46 taps rarely shut off.
Since the wait time to enter the grounds can run up to four hours, the lines on the 3-acre property form hours before the bar opens its doors.
“The place is a phenomenon,” said a source with Clare Rose, the distributor that provides the Boardy Barn with seas of suds each year. “I don’t think there is anything like it in the country.”
