Add another bizarre chapter to the strange Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito tale.
Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland received a concerned call from Martin’s agent, Rick Smith, before Martin left the team on Oct. 28, ProFootballTalk.com reported Wednesday night. Smith described to Ireland the volatile relationship between the two offensive linemen, multiple sources told the website.
Ireland’s response was to let the two sort it out, and he suggested Martin “punch” Incognito to get the All-Pro lineman off his back, according to the story. Instead, Martin left the team, and has yet to return. Incognito, meanwhile, was suspended by Miami “for conduct detrimental to the team” on Monday.
