Murphy re-ups with Rangers

Outfielder David Murphy and the Rangers agreed yesterday to a one-year contract worth $5,775,000.

The deal came three days after Murphy and the team exchanged salary arbitration figures. They agreed in the middle after Murphy sought $6.5 million and the team offered $5.05 million.

Texas previously agreed to deals with left-hander Matt Harrison and right-hander Neftali Feliz, their only other arbitration-eligible players.

Murphy hit .304 with 15 homers and 61 RBIs in 147 games last year. He was sixth in the AL with a .380 on-base percentage.

INDIANS: Utilityman Ryan Raburn signed a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Raburn has spent his entire career with the Tigers. The 31-year-old is a .256 hitter with 54 homers and 216 RBIs in 566 games. He spent most of 2012 with the Tigers and also appeared in 15 games for Triple-A Toledo.

ASTROS: Left-hander Erik Bedard was signed to a minor league contract and invited to spring training.

Bedard, 33, started on opening day for the Pirates last season. He went 7-14 with a 5.01 ERA in 24 starts.
