Hell’s Kitchen drug raid a bust – powder not bath salts

It wasn’t “Breaking Bad” after all.

Police raided a West 54th Street co-op to investigate a possible drug lab yesterday — but discovered that the man who lives there was just mixing baking soda and table salt, police sources said.

Pounds of the white substance, initially thought to be illegal bath salts, were found in the apartment’s refrigerator, as well as beakers, sources said.

Sources said the 44-year-old resident who lived there may have been trying to make bath salts on his own, but it was not immediately clear because he appeared to be mentally ill.

Neighbors had complained that the apartment smelled of cat urine.

The man was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after being questioned by police.

The products he mixed were legal and non-toxic, and no criminality is suspected, authorities said.
