Spoiler alert

On ESPN2 this morning at 9 a.m., they showed the replay of the Australian Open women’s final, which had aired live on ESPN at 3 a.m. ESPN2 did not show the match in its entirety, cutting out two games, but that was not the worst of their transgressions. At 11 a.m. on the bottom of the screen, they began running their scoreboard results. In their “The Lead” category and “Tennis” category they had the result of the women’s final and showed it repeatedly — thereby ruining the broadcast’s suspense for those of us watching it on the taped replay. What a joke!

Dwight Howard may have the physique of Superman, but his body of work in the NBA isn’t all that impressive. On the other hand, the Nets’ Brook Lopez doesn’t resemble any comic book character. He just wins basketball games. Time after time, he is the difference, making big shots and big stops at crunch time. So in retrospect, maybe the best thing that ever happened to the Nets was the big trade for Howard that never happened. Maybe leaving Lopez off the All-Star team, an honor he richly deserves, is a way of protecting all the idiot GMs who didn’t want him in a trade.

I can’t help wondering if the players suing the NFL never realized that violent hits might be bad for their brains.

When Rangers general manager Glen Sather was in Edmonton, he said he would contend for the Stanley Cup every single year if he was in New York and had the Rangers’ resources. He has been here for over 10 years now. Exactly when does each-and-every year begin?

To show gratitude to NHL fans in Tampa, the owner of the Lightning put 200 season tickets for sale at the price of $200 for the entire season. He said it was a way of showing appreciation to the hockey fans for returning after the lockout. The owner of the Bruins made sure each fan received a letter of apology for the lockout and had free concessions on opening night against the Rangers. What did Cablevision and James Dolan provide to Rangers fans on opening night at the Garden to show their appreciation? A T- shirt. And let’s not forget all ticket prices were increased this year. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of top-notch Sushi at the Garden now.
