‘O’verturning gay-nups ban

WASHINGTON — President Obama yesterday gave his most fervent defense yet of homosexuals’ right to marry, saying he would overturn California’s gay-marriage ban if he were a Supreme Court judge.

“We cannot discriminate against same-sex couples when it comes to marriage,” Obama declared at a White House news conference.

“The basic principle that America is founded on — the idea that we’re all created equal — applies to everybody,” he said.
