Giants sign Zack Bowman to add to cornerback depth

The Giants on Monday continued their offseason trend of fortifying the defensive side of the ball, re-signing defensive tackle Mike Patterson and adding veteran cornerback Zack Bowman.

Adding corners as if they cannot get enough, the Giants now have seven cornerbacks with NFL experience on their roster. Bowman spent his first six years with the Bears. He played in all 16 games in 2013 and had three interceptions.

Earlier this offseason, the Giants signed cornerback Walter Thurmond of the Seahawks and added one of the prizes on the open market in Broncos corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

After eight seasons with the Eagles, Patterson impressed the Giants last year with his ability to stop the run. They always intended to bring him back, and, after seeing Linval Joseph sign with the Vikings, needed Patterson to fill in as depth behind presumed starters Cullen Jenkins and second-year Johnathan Hankins.
