Carnival Triumph breaks loose from dock, possibly dumps people in water

The cursed Carnival Triumph ship broke loose from its moorings this afternoon in Alabama, as rescue crews rushed to the docks looking for people possibly thrown to the water.

High winds were blamed for this afternoon’s incident at the BAE Shipyard in Mobile.

The ship has come to rest against a nearby cargo vessel, according to Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen.

The Carnival Triumph was the focus of international news for a week this past February, when an engine-room fire knocked out most of the ship’s power and plumbing.

The blaze forced 4,200 passengers to into an unsanitary cruise from hell.

“We have reports that the Carnival Triumph has broken away from BAE Shipyard and there may be people in the water,” according to the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.

It was undergoing repairs when it unexpectedly broke loose at 2 p.m. CDT.

“Due to strong winds in Mobile, Carnival Triumph, which was docked @ Mobile shipyard, broke away from its moorings. US Coast Guard is on site,” the cruise line tweeted.

Gusts as powerful as 35 mph and 65 mph wreaked havoc around the Mobile Bay this afternoon.

A guard shack and at least one person were blown into the water by the strong winds at around the same time Triumph got loose.
